Krka National Park is one of the most visited national parks in Croatia. There are many stunning places within this waterfall-based landscape yet some places such as Manojlovac waterfall stand out. Manojlovac is not part of the most visited area of Krka National Park and you need to follow the Knin – Kistanje road to reach it. Many say that this waterfall is the most magnificent one on the Krka River.
It’s the third largest waterfall cascade on Krka and the highest point of it is 32 meters high. Even the Austrian emperor and his wife enjoyed this waterfall when they visited back in 1875. If you’re visiting Manojlovac, we suggest you visit another nearby attraction – Burnum Amphitheater. It’s the archeological site near Manojlovac dating from the times of the Roman Empire which used this site as a military camp.
With all this being said, we suggest you visit Manojlovac during your visit to Krka National Park, or when traveling on Knin-Kistanje road. Let’s find out more about it.
Where is Manojlovac Waterfall Located?
Manojlovac Waterfall is located within the Krka River canyon and it’s part of Krka National Park in central Dalmatia. It lies approximately 45 kilometers from Šibenik and 15 kilometers from Knin, making it a great day trip for anyone staying in these towns. The waterfall is the third and highest cascade along the Krka River, with a total height of 59.6 meters and the highest cascade being 32 meters high.

- By car: Drive to the nearby village of Ivoševci and follow the signs to the waterfall.
- Guided tour: Many tours to Krka National Park include stops at less known and less visited sites like Manojlovac and Burnum.

When we visited Manojlovac waterfall, we were astounded by its beauty. Yes, we have visited many waterfalls in Croatia through the years, but Manojlovac somehow stands out. Maybe because of the fact that it was not so easy to reach and we were the only visitors at that time. We felt like being in the Garden of Eden.

Manojlovac Waterfall has a fascinating history. The remains of an old hydroelectric power plant can still be seen nearby. It’s a reminder of how natural resources in Croatia have been used throughout history.

Unlike more crowded tourist hotspots, Manojlovac offers a quieter experience than the rest of Krka National Park. The serene environment allows you to connect with nature and enjoy the peaceful sound of cascading water. Still, we advise you to visit the ‘crowded’ part of the park too since it’s absolutely beautiful and you’ll love it despite the eventual crowds.
Important Safety Note: No Access Under the Waterfall
As we already mentioned at the beginning of this article, in recent years, access to the base of Manojlovac Waterfall has been restricted due to the dangers posed by the steep and unstable trail. Visitors are strongly advised not to attempt descending to the bottom of the waterfall. Please see the latest updates on whether the trail is open or not.

Although it might not be possible to get to this magnificent waterfall in Krka National Park at the moment, you can still admire its beauty from some of the viewpoints that are located in this area.

Best Time to Visit Manojlovac Waterfall
Just like many other places in Croatia, Manojlovac is most visited during the summer season when most tourists visit Croatia and Krka National Park. Although this is a great time to enjoy this waterfall, it might not be the best one since Krka River and Manojlovac are not at their fullest at this period.
Here’s what to expect out of each season at Manojlovac Waterfall:
- Spring (April to June): This is the perfect time to visit, as the waterfall is at its most powerful, and the weather is mild. The best combination you can have.
- Autumn (September to October): Offers cooler temperatures and fewer crowds, with the vibrant autumn colors.
- Summer: The most crowded period of the year, although the area surrounding Manojlovac is way less crowded than the rest of the Krka National Park. Also, this is the hottest part of the year so plan your visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the hottest hours.
- Winter: The coldest part of the year although the winters are relatively mild in this part of Croatia. There are almost no visitors at this time of the year and part of the vegetation surrounding the waterfall is without foliage.

- Bring Essentials: Pack water, sunscreen, and a hat, especially if you’re visiting during the summer months.
- Combine with Other Nearby Attractions: Consider visiting nearby sites such as Krka’s famous Skradinski Buk or Roški Slap for a full day of exploration. Also, Burnum Amphitheater is the closest location to Manojlovac waterfall and we suggest you visit it since it won’t take much of your time.
- Photography Tips:
- If you’re into photography, visit in the early morning or late afternoon for the best lighting conditions.
- Bring a tripod if you’re interested in capturing long-exposure shots of the cascading water. It would be great to have an ND filter if you want to have the best results possible.
Places to visit near the Manojlovac Waterfall
- Knin:
- Knin is a historical town located relatively close to the Manojlovac waterfall. It’s famous for many things and Knin Fortress is one of the places to visit in it. It’s also the place where Krka River has its source which is possible to visit as well. And the best thing, there is a Krčić waterfall falling straight into the Krka River spring. Yet another amazing waterfall to visit, especially during the spring when it’s full of water.
- Čikola Canyon:
- Čikola River Canyon is another beautiful location in which you can enjoy Čikola Via Ferrata or try the nearby zipline. Perfect location if you want to add a bit of adventure into your Croatia holidays.
- Krka Eco campus:
- Interpretation center through which you can learn a lot more about Krka and its wonders. Located not so far away from Manojlovac, it’s a place to put on your itinerary when visiting this area and want to know more.
Before You Venture To Manojlovac Waterfall
