We are photographers in Croatia and do much of our work in Dubrovnik. It’s the most photogenic place in Croatia, but you need to know some hidden places to find the most stunning photos that you can either keep for yourself or put on social networks. In this article, we bring you our favorite viewpoints in Dubrovnik that are not good only for photography, but for enjoying some of the best views of Dubrovnik there are.
For each of these Dubrovnik viewpoints, we will put a pin so you can easily find it on Google Maps. All of these viewpoints are relatively easy to reach and some of them will be crowded in some parts of the day, for example Srđ Hill in the sunset hours. But always try to think out of the box and walk just a bit further away from the crowds and enjoy the equally beautiful view in peace. Finally, don’t visit these viewpoints only because of the photography, make sure to enjoy and appreciate the view itself once you put the camera down.
1. Dubrovnik City Walls – The Most Iconic View
We are starting this list of the best viewpoints in Dubrovnik with the iconic Dubrovnik Walls that has the best view of Dubrovnik’s terracotta rooftops and the Old Town part. These walls surround the Old Town and provide stunning 360-degree views of the Old Town itself, the Adriatic Sea, and nearby islands. There are so many opportunities for making some great photos along the way.
Best Time to Visit: Early morning or late afternoon to avoid crowds and hottest hours. Also, these periods are the best for photography.
Highlights: The Minčeta Tower offers one of the highest points on the walls and the best panoramic view of the Old Town.

2. Srđ Hill – The Ultimate Panoramic View
Srđ is the place we visit often during our photography sessions in Durbovnik since it has the best panoramic views of the whole area. Srđ Hill is rising 412 meters above Dubrovnik , and from it you can enjoy the view of the entire city, Lokrum Island, and the Dalmatian coast. Srđ is the most popular location for observing sunset in Dubrovnik and the best viewpoint is located below the cable car station, so you’ll either need to walk from it or you can book a taxi to take you there by road.
How to Get There: Take the Dubrovnik Cable Car or hike up the trail from the Old Town . For reaching the best Dubrovnik viewpoint, you’ll need to walk a bit or take a taxi.
Best Time to Visit: Sunset is magical from this place so we suggest visiting at that period. Expect some crowds though.
Highlights: The Fort Imperial and a restaurant with a terrace overlooking Dubrovnik .

3. The Port Near Pile Gate – A Hidden Gem
Just outside the Pile Gate , this small port offers a fantastic view of Fort Lovrijenac and Dubrovnik’s walls. This location is often overlooked by many travelers but it’s one of the best viewpoints in Dubrovnik that we often use in our photography work.
Best Time to Visit: Early morning for a peaceful setting or during sunset for golden hour reflections.
Highlights: Observe the kayakers leaving for sunset kayaking tours in Dubrovnik with the walls as their backdrop.

4. Komarda Beach – A Seaside Viewpoint
And yet another of our favorite Dubrovnik viewpoints. Komarda Beach is located just a bit outside the Old Town, underneath the Lazareti quarantine, and has one of the best views of Dubrovnik’s Old Town.
How to Get There: Located near Ploče Gate , just underneath the Lazareti.
Best Time to Visit: As early in the morning as possible. Enjoy the sunrise view of Dubrovnik.
Highlights: A quiet and uncrowded location in the early morning, perfect for a peaceful atmosphere and enjoying the view.

5. Lovrijenac Fortress – The “Red Keep” View
Are you a fan of the Game of Thrones series ? If you are, then this location is a must-visit place for you. Lovrijenac Fortress, also known as the Red Keep in the Game of Thrones series, has a great view of the Old Town and the surrounding walls. Lovrijenac is located a bit higher on a steep cliff and offers some of the best views in Dubrovnik.
Best Time to Visit: Late afternoon and at the sunset period.
Highlights: A unique perspective of Dubrovnik’s Walls and the Old Town. The view toward the open sea is also amazing.
Entrance Fee: Included with the Dubrovnik City Walls ticket.
6. Buža Bar – A Cliffside View
For the end of this list of the best viewpoints in Dubrovnik, we have left this great bar located on the cliffs outside of the Dubrovnik’s walls. Buža Bar is a famous place where you can enjoy a drink while enjoying the great view of the walls and the Adriatic Sea.
Best Time to Visit: Sunset, when the sky is colored in different sunset hues.
Highlights: Great views of the sea with waves crashing against the cliffs .
Tip: Arrive early to get a good spot since this is a very famous sunset location in Dubrovnik.
